O meglio… festival del forward! Nato da un’idea dell’amico Steve Palier, di Open Ocean Media (quello che per intenderci che ha dato il “la” al Wave Classic Invitational degli scorsi anni), si è disputato nelle, a noi vicine, acque del famoso spot di Six Four, il Brutal Beach Jump Contest! Mentre in Liguria, ci bagnavamo a suon di scrosci di pioggia, come vi avevo annunciato nelle previsioni di venerdì, gli amici francesi si godevano il sole e quasi 25 nodi di vento. Non super condizioni, il vento non è mai stato fortissimo, ma abbastanza per garantire lo spettacolo di questo evento di soli salti a cui hanno partecipato una ventina di riders, anzi di… jumpers! In acqua anche il giovane kid locale, 12 anni, di cui vi parlavo la settimana scorsa, Loïck Lesauvage che si è sparato diversi front loop vincendo la sua categoria davanti al quattordicenne Alex Villate.

This clip simply resume the cool ambiance on the spot Brutal Beach (Six Fours / South France) this last saturday. On the initiative of Steve Palier from Open Ocean Media (Wave Classic Invitational), a “Jump Contest” was launched in a few days, right after a short call through the facebook page of the local windsurf club, Six Fours Windsurf Organization. No surf, no freestyle, only the jumps were taken in account. A simple way to gather a lot of riders and to make it simple for the public! Unfortunately, we’ve been missing a stronger wind but the waves were rolling in and 20 riders could offer a nice show to the public on the beach, featuring great wipe outs in an incredible frontloops festival. In 15 to 25 knots of onshore wind in the semi-finals, local beachboy Ben Légier takes the honours ahead of Damien Eymard from Marseille, with clean backloops and forwards. Also the kids were in and the local Loïck Lesauvage showed a super good potential during the contest with his frontloops, and he finally won ahead of Alex Villate, in a cool final that has been launched “just for them”. Nothing to win, nothing to loose, free registration, riders judging each other, that was a very cool (open) contest and we’re gonna make it again, maybe with a team format : “Six Fours’ team” vs “Marseille’s team” vs “Cannes’ team”. This will even be more spicy !!!
