Occhio… continuano ad essere avvistate le novità in fatto di tavole 2012. Mentre RRD presentava, sabato scorso, in occasione della One Hour, in anteprima, le nuove tavole Quad Wave e Freestyle 2012, Starboard annuncia un’ulteriore riduzione di peso e di modalità costruttiva delle famose scasse Slot Box. Le nuove scasse che equipaggeranno le tavole Flare 2012, disponibili già dal prossimo luglio, hanno i nuovi inserti di fissaggio in ottone invece che di plastica e questo permette di sopportare maggiormente la pressione di pinne anche leggermente più grandicelle. La differenza di peso tra la  scassa Slot Box e una tradizionale scassa US box è impressionante… 75% più leggera. Ed anche i nuovi Flare vanteranno pesi veramente contenuti…

Starboard Flare switches to Slot Box
Following the success of the Slot Box in multi-fin wave boards, Starboard has developed a special Slot Box for its 2012 Flares. This new Slot Box is fitted with brass inserts instead of plastic, allowing the fin to be held with more pressure. The difference in weight between the Slot Box and the US box is impressive: it’s 75% lighter. This should make the weight of Starboard’s new Flares interesting. With less moving parts, the Slot Box makes fin fitting easy. The screws carry the same gauge as those on your straps and air-vent and there’s three cm of adjustment room for you to tune your board for more slide or more grip.
Starboard’s new Flares are available from July 2011.
